This quaint little shed called The Silo and Shed, nestled in the Stellenbosch winelands, has been given a second life as an intimate wedding venue.
Stylish, but with an unaffected beauty, you’ll love this secure, exclusive reception venue with its bright, natural lighting, countryside lawns, wrap veranda and ample parking. An eclectic mix of modern sophistication and farm-life charm, The Silo and Shed’s décor is a breath of fresh air. Papered walls with large leafy designs echo the botanical theme found in the hanging plants and pot plants.
We can accommodate up to 60 guests. Our wedding venue allows for weddings held during the week, over the weekend and on public holidays. We supply the place settings and the furniture, both indoor and outdoor. (You’ll love our rustic, wooden display tables that’ll catch your guests’ attention the moment they walk through the door.)

Food to die for
We have a range of menus to choose from, so you really can have the fare that pairs with you. Think: breakfast, lunch, high tea, cocktails and canapes, food stations, food-truck food or our specialty – bountiful harvest tables. And of course, we’re happy to plan a menu special to you. Halaal- and kosher-friendly catering is available upon special request.

Frequently Asked Questions
What about décor?
The Silo and Shed is botanically themed in an airy, modern way. There are a couple of wallpapered walls, hanging plants, pot plants and shelving with art. This standard décor cannot be moved. We do allow floral and lighting installations from the roof beams, but not stuck to the walls, doors and floors. We’re happy to brainstorm with you, and will confirm all décor and installation ideas in writing so that we’re all on the same page.
Are you licensed to sell alcohol?
We are pleased to offer a fully licensed bar. You may bring in your own wine, at a corkage fee of R75 per 750ml bottle. All other beverages must be ordered through us. There’s a one-time bar set-up fee, and this includes: a bar person for the duration of the event (excluding overtime), ice, water jugs, bar glassware and wine coolers.
Do you provide event coordination?
No, we do not. We distinguish between a venue manager and an event coordinator, because the responsibilities are different. We would be glad to make recommendations for excellent event coordinators.
We’re an international couple. Can we pay with a credit card?
Yes, you may pay with a credit card! Just keep in mind that when it comes to returning breakage deposits, we refund via EFT (electronic funds transfer) to South African bank accounts only.
Are we allowed music and dancing?
We care about our neighbours and our farm animals, and so welcome music that is best kept in the background. (Loud music is not permitted.) Dancing is welcome during day weddings.
What about wait staff?
Compulsory staff costs will be worked out according to your confirmed timeline and number of guests. We work on an average of one waiter to 15 guests. Please enquire about costing.
What happens if there’s a power outage?
Unfortunately, none of us can control when load shedding will happen; however, if you’d like to plan for this, you’re welcome to bring in a generator. We can refer you to suppliers.
What happens if we accidentally break something?
We charge a reasonable refundable deposit for breakages. The deposit will be refunded within two weeks if there were no breakages.
Oh dear, we need to cancel our wedding!
We understand that this happens. Unfortunately, the 50% booking fee is nonrefundable.
What about smoking?
Smoking is not permitted in The Silo and Shed, but guests are welcome to smoke outside. Please let us know if you need ashtrays.
